Thomas F. Taft, Jr., Principal, Taft Family Ventures

Mr. Taft currently serves as a Principal at Taft Family Ventures and Taft Development Group and has been with the company for 11+ years. 

Mr. Taft’s primary role is overseeing the day-to-day operations of the 5 divisions that make up Taft Family Ventures (management, development, construction, affordable housing, and asset management). He assists in the negotiation of all financial transactions for Taft Family Ventures and the Taft family including $100M of Sec. 1031 exchanges over the past 18 months.  

Mr. Taft has more recently developed his own multifamily properties, has overseen renovations at several projects over the last year and developed two spec office buildings in the Raleigh metropolitan area. He maintains full individual authority and financial responsibilities for each of those developments. Other endeavors include Greenville’s first Nano-Brewery, Trollingwood Taproom & Brewery, several restaurants including Ford + Shep and The Boundary Provision Co, as well several urban, mixed-use projects that sparked the revitalization of the Dickinson Avenue Corridor in Greenville. 

Mr. Taft currently serves as the Environmental At Large member on the North Carolina Board of Transportation and previously served on the City of Greenville Board of Adjustments, the Greenville Museum of Art Board of Trustees, the Uptown Greenville Board of Directors, The ECU Medical and Health Sciences Board of Trustees and is a heavily involved member of the National Apartment Association, and the Urban Land Institute.  Mr. Taft also formerly served on North Carolina’s Eastern Region Economic Development Council at the behest of the Governor, as well as the Pitt/Greenville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and served as campaign co-chair of the Greenville-ENC Economic Development Alliance, which raised $3,000,000 from private entities throughout the region. 

He is married to the former Blair Albritton and they are members of Jarvis Memorial Methodist Church and resides with her in Greenville with their 3-year-old Thomas Fleming Taft III and infant James Alexander.
